Pacitan, a small town of the south coast and westernmost regency of East Java, hides teens of beautiful white sand beaches. It is also known as Regency of 1001 Caves. Yeap... since most of the region land are karst hills, there are many caves can be found here. The most famous one is the Gong cave, it is a huge cave with many unique stalagmite and stalactite formations. The stalactite formations on the cave ceiling are like the luxurious chandelier of a royal palace. We can even find a huge pillar that connect the bottom of the cave to the ceiling which was formed by unification of a stalagmite and a stalactite for thousands of years. Other formations such flower shape, curtain shape and even Crystal formation of the cave's interior are easily be found.
The beaches here are still naturally preserved. White sand, clean water and huge waves are common scenes. Each beaches has their own characteristic, from the friendly to swim beach like Watu Karung to highly dangerous wave in Klayar. The unique characteristic of Klayar beach besides its tidal wave is the rock formation on the west side that looks like a sail of the ancient ships. Makes it a perfect spot to hunt photography masterpiece. Watu Karung beach has crescent shape, its clean water and white sand beach remind us of those beaches in Lombok island. There are even more beaches when we go through up the hillside of Watu karung beach. There is also Srau beach, it's not the big one, but the scene from the hillside is just too good to be true.
